In June 2016 The Health Bloggers Community hosted their first ever awards ceremony titled the ‘HBC Blog Awards’. The event was in collaboration with That Protein and sponsored by ourselves along with other great brands such as; Linwoods, Protein Haus and The Soil Association. The awards were a friendly and fun celebration of the fast-growing community of health bloggers which continues to grow and evolve each day.
Here at SuperFoodLx we have chosen to interview a few of the winners and finalists from the HBC Awards. Each interview provides a mini insight into each blogger but what SuperFoodLx liked the most about the interviews was learning about what makes a great health blog and each health blogger’s favourite health tips.
When you get the chance, reach out to them and follow, like and subscribe to their respective channels on social media as they are a great way to stay informed on the health community.
Today we will be interviewing Jon Weston Stanley from HEALTHY JON
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi I’m Jon, I am a health & fitness blogger and England Touch Rugby player.
What inspired you to start Healthy Jon?
My love for nutrition and training. I simply want to be the healthiest person that I can possibly be and help others do the same.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
The events, you get to meet loads of fun people in the industry whilst stuffing your face with food.
Do you have a favourite blog post and if so what is it and why?
My favourite blog post of mine is a recipe I posted quite recently. It is a really easy
recipe for a Raw Lemon Cheesecake. It is super healthy and require absolutely
no skill what so ever, just a food processor.

What plans do you have for the future of your blog?
I am currently looking into upgrading my blog, giving the whole thing a big revamp to make it look and function better. It is just a hobby at the moment but I would love to make a career out of it if I can.
If you had to choose one meal to eat everyday for one year, what would it be?
Probably a nice lamb tagine.
What do you do to relax and de stress?
Stretch 2-3 times per week for just 15 minutes. I find it really relaxing, it improves blood circulation and flexibility which both help with my sporting endeavours to.
What is your least favourite health fad and why?
Where do I start. There are far too many! I hate the fact that people advertise a low or zero fat products as being healthy.

What is your favourite superfood?
Matcha. I have it most days, particularly before a cardio session. Its thermogenic properties help me stay lean.
What is your most trusted natural remedy or keep healthy tip?
If you don’t buy crap, you can’t eat crap. Control what goes in your shopping basket and you will control what goes in your body.
If you could offer one piece of advice (about anything) what would it be?
Forget your insecurities and love yourself. Far too many people lack self
confidence, don’t be one of them.
MATCHA HAIR GROWTH REMEDY
As matcha is one of Healthy Jon’s favourite super foods and we at SuperFoodLx are hair growth enthusiasts, here is a natural remedy to encourage hair growth using matcha.
Matcha Tea Butter
Matcha butter is a blend of hydrogenated vegetable oils or shea butter and finely ground matcha tea powder. Matcha tea butter is (of course) a buttery, thick paste which is then used as a topical application on the scalp. The matcha tea butter hair remedy has been known to reduce inflammation (itching) of the skin of the scalp, stimulate hair growth and reduce dandruff. Matcha tea butter contains multiple nutrients such as; polyphenols, vitamin E, which is a well know nutrient connected to hair growth as it improves circulation to the scalp and hair follicles and vitamin C, which protects hair from sun damage.
